On October 20, 2015 members of  the Utility division of Local 3, IBEW employed by National Grid in Staten  Island ratified a new 5-year agreement. After two months of negotiations the  recently completed negotiations with National Grid (Formely Brooklyn Union Gas)  were challenging and complex. Due to the hard work and commitment of the  negotiating committee and sub-committees under Business Representative and  Assistant Business Manager Joseph Santigate, they were able to negotiate a  contract that acknowledges the value and the contributions of this highly  skilled and dedicated workforce. Thanks to our committee, listed below, for  their determination in working through some very difficult and multifaceted  departmental issues. These highlights are a snapshot of the key elements of the  agreement with National Grid. 
  
  Highlights include:
  ‰Û¢ A 5-year Agreement 
  ‰Û¢ Wage increases totaling  13.5% to members hourly wage over contract term
  ‰Û¢ Enhanced company  contributions to the 401K
  ‰Û¢ Improve the no-layoff  provision
  ‰Û¢ Increase clothing allowance  money
  ‰Û¢ Expand and create new career  paths
  ‰Û¢ Increase reimbursement for  training travel.
‰Û¢ Reduce employees  contribution for dental
