On the weekend of September 30th and October 1st, the Westchester Community Services Committee volunteered for the "Walk to End Alzheimer’s" organized annually by the Alzheimer's Association.
Volunteers coming from New York City and Westchester County — journeypersons, apprentices, and retirees among them — got started on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. loading up a truck with supplies at the Alzheimer’s Association office in Purchase, New York. After the truck was loaded up, it was driven to Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY, where the walk was held. Then, volunteers helped set up before the event, during it, and after, reloading and unloading the truck on Sunday.
Anyone interested in volunteering at any of the Community Services Committee's upcoming activities should call the Local 3 Office in White Plains at (914) 948-3800 and leave a message for Committee Chairman Walter Beck.
