The NYS AFL-CIO’s Union Strong podcast featured Local 3’s very own “Singing Electrician” on their most recent episode. As he tells it, ‘A’ journeyman Kyle Viverito was working at the UBS Arena construction site in 2021 as a traveler with Local 25, when his operatic voice on the job reached the ears of the New York Islanders Game Presentation staff. Since that day, Kyle has sung the National Anthem at multiple events hosted by Local 3, the Joint Industry Board, the New York Islanders, the New York Mets, and elsewhere. He is also a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists, the labor union of singers, dancers, and staging staff in opera, ballet, and concert dance, and concert choral performance in the United States.

Stay up to date on New York’s union movement with the Union Strong podcast, which covers local organizing campaigns, legislative and political issues important to workers, and stories of union members like Kyle, who will be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Union Strong Night at Citi Field on Saturday, September 2. You can listen wherever you get your podcasts, or watch the video version of the show on their YouTube channel.
