Members of Local 3, IBEW in the Bronx joined the public announcement of Empire State Development’s investment of $55 million into Fordham Landing South, which is a planned affordable housing and mixed-use development along the Harlem River. Union members from Local 3 and the Building Trades of New York City showed their support with Governor Kathy Hochul, U.S. House Representative Adriano Espaillat, State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Assemblymember Yudelka Tapia, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, City Council member Pierina Sanchez, and co-developers at the press conference on Tuesday, October 21st.

The State’s investment builds on top of the City’s approval of the project in August. On behalf of the developers, Dynamic Star CEO Gary Segal pledged to employ union labor to construct more than 900 affordable housing units, a grocery store, and improved access to the riverfront and Metro-North Railroad, as well as surrounding projects in the near future.
