Today we honor our brave veterans. We owe them all a debt of gratitude for their service to our country. American servicemen and women have put their lives on the line time and again, along side America’s allies in far off lands, in order to protect not only our interests and principles but to stand with those who have suffered the horrors of war inflicted upon them by dictators and despots throughout history.
We especially acknowledge those who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for their country and we should pause today to honor the families they left behind. We must also commit to ensuring our government supports our wounded warriors adequately by funding veterans’ services for both their physical wounds and wounds unseen - post-traumatic Stress Disorder and addiction.
On behalf of each and every member of our union, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our Local 3 veterans, for your sacrifice and service, including those members who have joined our ranks through the Helmets to Hardhats program. I wish each of you a happy Veterans Day.
