Electrical Workers Without Borders North America (EWWBNA) remains active in the “Light Up Navajo” mission to bring electricity to the people of the Navajo Nation. Most recently, a delegation from Local 3, Local 1245, IBEW’s 7th District, and EWWBNA met with Dr. Buu Nygren, President of the Navajo Nation, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) leadership, and visited two households where volunteers were installing electrical services for the first time.

The ongoing support for this volunteer effort is real, and volunteers are truly making a difference by installing new 200-amp services and wiring homes. Thank you to Local 3 members John Woodard, Mike Pandarat, and Scott Tiwari plus the crew from Local 611 and every volunteer who has participated over the past two years.
Much work still needs to be done, as nearly 10,000 Navajo homes still don’t have electricity. If you are able, please consider signing up to volunteer or making a tax-deductible donation. Send an email to Local 3 Organizer Archie Alcantara at aalcantara@local3ibew.org with your full name, phone number, email address, union card number, division, current employer (if applicable), years as a journeyperson, and affiliated clubs.
