This year’s elections all take place on the local level, so it’s a good opportunity ahead of the presidential election next year to get in the habit of tracking the most important issues and voting for pro-labor candidates. Election Day everywhere is on Tuesday, November 5, and early voting in New York started on Saturday, October 26 and goes until Sunday, November 3.
Make sure you are registered to vote at your current address and know where your polling location is before going. To find your site, click on your state in the dropdown menu here. Dates, times, and locations for early voting in New York State can be found in multiple languages here. New York City residents can apply to be poll workers here.
To help members make their decisions at the ballot box, an election edition of The Union World was mailed out on Wednesday with endorsements from the CLC’s and IBEW Locals in New York City, Long Island, Westchester-Putnam counties, and New Jersey. The special issue includes more on the five ballot proposals in New York City, the Community Board Initiative, and the 2020 U.S. Census.
A list of endorsed candidates can also be found on the Members Only side of the website by clicking here. Please note you must be signed in to access this page.
