The 31st Annual College Advisory Day was held on Saturday, November 21, 2015. The annual event sponsored by the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund and the Alumni Association of Scholarship Winners was attended by 75 Local 3, IBEW members and their college-bound children. Representatives from 8 colleges and universities and 35 members of the AASW were on hand to offer their advice. There were discussions on career choices, the college admissions process and personal college experiences.
Michael A. Yee, Director of the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund together with Dr. Gerald Finkel, Chairman of the Joint Industry Board on behalf of the Trustees, welcomed everyone and discussed some of the educational benefits available to the children of Local 3 members. John Korman, Esq., President of the Alumni Association of Scholarship Winners provided a brief history of the AASW.
Students were able to meet with recent graduates to hear stories about their college experiences and career paths.
A financial aid presentation was held in the Balcony Lounge, where questions relating to the financial aid process were discussed. FAFSA applications and explanatory booklets were available.
Parents and students left with information and a clear perspective of the college admissions experience. College Advisory Day proved to be a successful experience once again.
