In response to the recent spike in anti-Asian hate crimes and hateful rhetoric, the IBEW and the NYC Central Labor Council along with the NY Chapter of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) released the following statements reaffirming solidarity with our Asian and Asian-American brothers and sisters:
- “All Americans have the right to live their lives free of violence, harassment, and bigotry, and the IBEW stands with our Asian-American neighbors to protect that right,” said IBEW International President Lonnie R. Stephenson.
- “The NYC Labor Movement will not stand by while members of the Asian Pacific community are targeted, harassed, and even physically attacked in our own city or anywhere in our nation — we must all take responsibility for ending these attacks and ensuring the unity of all working people,” said NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez and APALA New York Chapter President and Local Union No. 3, IBEW Executive Board Member Steven Moy.
