A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson
Issues at our Union Hall. Donald Trump almost killed by an assassin. It’s scary. Threats are one thing, but when someone acts out, especially with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, people die. Innocents die.
I certainly disavow any and all political violence. There’s no place for it in our country. However, this incident doesn’t make him a martyr or a hero, nor does it change my mind about him and how he would act as president. Maybe he will use the moment to reflect and adjust his own attitude and rhetoric going forward, to tone down the vitriol that has been a hallmark of his. But I doubt it, and I doubt his extreme supporters will either.
Politics aside, we don’t know yet the motive of the 20-year-old shooter, but you have to question the mental state of mind that he was in. Anyone who randomly kills a person or perpetrates a mass shooting cannot be in the right state of mind.
