Veterans Day is this Wednesday, November 11. It is a time to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and thank them for their service and sacrifice to our great country. It is also a day to remember their accomplishments since returning from active military service.

The Veterans Club of Local 3 and direct-entry programs such as Helmets to Hardhats and the IBEW's Veterans Electrical Entry Program (VEEP) encourage union members who also served to join them in strengthening the building trades and building future opportunities for service men and women.

A Prayer for Veterans

God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nations and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day. We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm's way.

Shield them from danger and bring them home. Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace. May the peace you left us, the peace you gave us, be the peace that sustains us, the peace that saves us.
