North America’s Building Trades Unions — representing 3 million skilled trades workers across 14 affiliate unions including the IBEW — has entered an agreement with Ørsted, the world’s largest offshore wind developer, to ensure that the renewable energy transition is union-made. Ørsted already operates the United States’ first offshore wind farm near Block Island and has been awarded energy infrastructure projects up and down the East Coast. The NABTU, AFL-CIO, and their affiliates will work with Ørsted in long-term planning, skills training, and raising labor standards in a fast-growing industry. Read more in the NABTU and Ørsted’s joint press release.
