Amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, our once everyday life and practices are being transformed in ways that we could have never imagined. The Educational and Cultural Trust Fund is adapting to the present-day environment by presenting this year’s Critical Thinking workshop at Cutchogue, but for union members only, not including family members. If the first few sessions are successful and other restrictions are lifted, an invitation for members’ families may be extended later in the summer.

Critical Thinking workshops held at the Long Island Education Center in Cutchogue, Long Island are workshops designed to help evaluate, analyze, and comprehend working people’s economic, social, and political situations. Since 1957, the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund has offered it in various forms. Critical thinking allows us to improve our decision-making skills and apply them not only to everyday life, but on the job as well. The workshop includes lectures, videos and fact sheets that lead to open group discussions on topics incorporated in the curriculum.

Over the course of the coming months, the workshop will be presented for all eligible members who are willing to attend these in-person workshops. The 2021 workshop is titled “The Science & Economics of COVID” and will be taught by Dr. Partha Banerjee. This workshop will be taught on the Saturday of your selected weekend (see dates below). Members will check into the Cutchogue facility on Friday evening and will depart right after class concludes on Saturday. Please note that proof of COVID-19 vaccination must be provided to the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund upon registration and brought to the Long Island Educational Center at check-in.

If you would like to register for the Critical Thinking workshop, please contact the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund at (718) 591-2000, ext. 1500.
